Well everyone we are back in Minnesota. We flew back starting today in Lima and flew to Atlanta and then to Minneapolis. The trip took about 14 hours and both of us are really tired.
We will be posting our final pictures of the trip in the next couple of days.

Thank you to everyone who e-mailed to check up on us! We are ok and thankfully everyone is ok in Ade´s family.
Well today is our last day in Peru. We are at Ade´s aunt Alicia´s apartment in Lima and will leave at 12:30 am to go home. The trip has been incredible. Ade´s family has been so welcoming everywhere that we have gone. We are hoping to make a return trip here for christmas in 2008.
My parents have enjoyed Peru in the week that they have been here. They have been taking some day trips and will get to visit Cuzco and Iquitos for about ten days after we leave.
We will be posting some more pictures on the blog soon.

Hey-
This is actually Jeff Heidkamp, Derek and Ade’s friend in Minneapolis, writing. Derek called me this morning to let me know they are OK, and that as far as they know all theri family and friends are alright as well. If you haven’t looked at the news yet, there was a major earthquake (7.9) in the south of Peru last night, leaving hundreds dead and over a thousand injured. We pray for them all.

Well my parents have arrived in Lima. They came in last night around 11:30 and were tried from a long day of traveling. In two days they traveled from Minneapolis to Chicago to Guadalajara to Mexico City to Lima. So we took them to their hotel last night and regrouped this morning. We had small 60th birthday celebration for my mom in the morning and then we headed for Larcomar, a really nice area near the Pacific Ocean this afternoon. Tonight we are going to the Plaza de Armas, before he go to view the city at night.

Les comentaré que con el dolor de mi corazón, mucha penita y algunas lágrimas nos despedimos de la gentita de Tarapoto, Rossy, Buena, Jorgito y Micaela nos hicieron pasar días bellísimos con ellos y ahora nos llevamos los recuerdos, las fotos y los videos…
Esta noche salimos con destino a Lima, en donde nos encontraremos con los papás de Derek (mañana por la noche) y donde esperaremos hasta conocer al niño que ellos apoyan el niño estudia en Lima) para luego regresar a Trujillo por unos días más y despedirnos definitivamente hasta el 2008…

Well Ade and I have just loved out time here in Tarapoto! We have been kept really busy and have enjoyed the incredible hospitality of Buena, Rosa, Jorge and Micaela.
We went to so many places these last three days that I have had a real hard time keeping track, well here goes.
On Friday morning we went to Rioja. We visited Tioyacu and Yacumama center. We stayed that night in a hotel in Moyobamba . The next day we visited Las Puntas and went for a boat ride on the Rio Mayo, a tributary of the Amazon. After that we went to a mini zoo and got to see some amazing orchids and animals. The afternoon was spent at the banos termales. We then headed back to Tarapoto and got some needed sleep.
Today we spent the day at Ahuashiyacu Falls, which was amazingly beautiful. We got to go swimming and relaxed. The time here has been simply incredible and we do not want to leave tomorrow.

Estos días han sido inolvidables, estuvimos el viernes por Rioja, La Ciudad de los Sombreros, en donde visitamos: “El Tioyacu”, o la creciente del tioyacu…Llegamos muy tarde al centro de la ciudad y por eso no probamos los tragos del “Chu-Chú Center”, y esa noche nos fuimos a domir a Moyobamba…
El sábado, amanecimos en Moyobamba, alli visitamos “Las Puntas” y “Los Baños Termales de San Mateo”…Fue excelente y por supuesto las fotos serán publicadas próximamente…
Hoy domingo, hemos ido a “Las cataratas de Ahuashiyacu”, un lugar espectacular y maravillos en donde hemos almorzado y agotado nuestras energías…
Nos estamos comunicando pronto…
